Pythium and Mushrooms

      2016/04/17

Backyard lawn early in the morning. Morning dew falls on the lawn.
The photo is in the early morning on October 16, 2015. The morning temperature is low and morning dew falls on the lawn these days.

Mycelia of Pythium, which looks like a spider web, on the lawn.
I see mycelia of Pythium on early morning lawn these several days. What looks like a spider web in the photo is the Pythium. Though it appears in moist seasons, we haven’t had any rain for a while. So does it appear perhaps because of the night dew?

Small brawn mushrooms found on the lawn.
Not only the Pythium, but several mushrooms are also found.

A 2L bottle of ALM Green and a 6 L watering pot in front of the lawn.
I don’t see any actual harm for the moment; however, I spayed “ALM Green” just in case. In case of the lawn, from 1 to 2 L of the solution for 10 acres is diluted with 1,000 L of water. That means, it is sprayed in 500- to 1,000-fold dilution.

There is 6 g of yellow original solution of ALM Green in a clear cup on a weighing scale.
Measure 6 ml (6 g) with a weighing scale.

Full of the diluted solution in a 6 L watering pot. In front of the garden tap stand.
Dilute it in a 6 L watering pot. I repeated this 7 or 8 times and sprayed the entire lawn. But, the recommended amount is 1,000 L per 10 acres. It becomes 230 L, i.e., 38 times using the 6 L watering pot, for the 2.3 acres of our home lawn. This is impossible. I promptly searched in the web and bought “New SPLEX (a dilution sprayer for liquid fertilizers)” for the next time.

Backyard lawn in the afternoon. The green of the grass is a little fading after autumn starts.
